Director, Promotion – Eastern US
Nashville, Tennessee (TN), United States
Posted October 28, 2026
Job description
Your Mission
As Director, Promotion, you’ll lead radio promotion for Wheelhouse artists within an assigned set of stations and markets, focusing on the Northeast/Eastern US. You’ll build trusted relationships with Country radio programmers and station teams, secure new airplay and increased rotation, and turn station feedback and audience data into focused promotion plans.
You’ll work with the broader promotion and label teams to connect radio activity with each artist’s release strategy and long-term development. Station assignments will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relationships and experience, alongside team coverage needs, rather than a predetermined geographic region.
What You'll Be Doing
• Build and maintain strong relationships with programmers, music directors and other key station personnel across the assigned stations and markets.
• Develop station and market plans that reflect artist priorities, programming needs, release schedules and campaign goals.
• Secure new station adds, pursue increased rotation and identify opportunities for broader artist exposure and support.
• Monitor assigned stations, airplay, chart movement, competing releases and programming changes to identify opportunities and address challenges.
• Use airplay, sales, streaming and audience data to build credible pitches, assess campaign progress and recommend next steps.
• Maintain purposeful contact with station partners, coordinating outreach with the promotion team and following through on requests and commitments.
• Plan and support artist station visits, radio shows, tour dates and other promotional opportunities in collaboration with artist management and internal teams.
• Travel regularly to assigned markets and promotional events to strengthen relationships and support artist campaigns.
• Collaborate with promotion, marketing, artist management and label teams to ensure regional activity supports the overall release plan.
• Maintain accurate station contacts, conversation notes, campaign updates and promotional commitments; communicate feedback, opportunities and concerns promptly.
• Adjust priorities and promotion plans as station needs, audience response and campaign performance evolve.
• Demonstrated radio-promotion experience and a strong understanding of the Country format, station programming and how records build airplay.
• Ability to develop productive radio relationships and present a persuasive, artist-specific case for station support.
• Ability to interpret airplay, chart, sales, streaming and audience data and translate findings into practical promotion decisions.
• Working knowledge of music-industry research and reporting tools, such as Mediabase and Luminate, or comparable platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment and professional representation of artists and the label.
• Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to prioritize multiple releases, manage commitments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues and sharing useful market information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort using shared reporting and contact-management tools.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly for station visits, artist appearances and campaign activity.
What Would Be A Plus
• Established relationships with Country radio programmers and station teams in one or more U.S. regions.
• Experience coordinating artist promotional visits, radio events and tour-related activity.
• Experience contributing to integrated release campaigns across promotion, marketing and artist management.
