Driller Assistant Haile Gold Mine | Kershaw, South Carolina Schedule: 5/5/4 Rotating Schedule | 12-Hour Shifts About the Opportunity: OceanaGold’s Haile Gold Mine is seeking a Driller Assistant to join our Drill & Blast team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in mining while working alongside experienced drill operators and supporting safe, efficient drilling operations. As a Driller Assistant, you will support daily drill operations, collect and maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) data, ensure drills are properly supplied, and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Onsite training is provided, making this a great opportunity for candidates with relevant experience in mining, construction, farming, equipment operation, or other hands-on environments. What You’ll Do: • Support drillers with daily operations in a safe and efficient manner. • Collect QA/QC data for drill patterns, including maps, measurements, and notes. • Assist the Drill & Blast Supervisor with shift plans and operational activities. • Ensure drills have the necessary supplies and materials to maintain productivity. • Track and fill drill water used for dust suppression. • Maintain high housekeeping and cleanliness standards across drill, maintenance, laydown, and operational areas. • Participate in pre-shift and toolbox safety meetings. • Complete required safety assessments, including Stop-Think and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). • Follow all site safety requirements, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). • Report incidents, near misses, hazards, and other safety concerns. • Work collaboratively with drill operators, lead drillers, supervisors, contractors, and other members of the Drill & Blast team. What You’ll Bring: • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Relevant hands-on experience in areas such as construction, farming, equipment operation, mining, or a similar environment. • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written work and safety instructions in English. • Valid driver’s license. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Comfortable and efficient using tablets, software applications, and other digital tools. • Ability to work both day and night shifts on a rotating 12-hour schedule. • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and maintaining high standards of work.
