Job description
The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will administer security measures under the direction of the FSO as necessary for implementing applicable requirements of the 32 Code of Federal Regulation Part 117, NISPOM) and related federal requirements for classified and unclassified contracts, materials, documents and equipment.
Essential functions:
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Serves as primary point of contact for security related employee/site issues and backup point of contact for DCSA
• Receive, generate, classify, mail, reproduce, store, transmit, ship and destroy all classified material and maintain applicable records as prescribed by 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule.
• Review incoming DD-254s and ensure the facility’s compliance with the applicable security requirements
• Complete and submit self-inspection in NISS
• Provide the following training and education:Ensure all cleared employees have mandatory training for derivative classification (if applicable) training and insider threat trainingProvide required initial brief, annual training, and de-briefs as required for all employees with clearancesProvide security training to all site employees at least annuallyProvide new hire training for all employeesMaintain security bulletin boards
• Conduct required security checks
• Manage badge preparation and deactivation of badges when employees leave
• Keep NISS up to date as required including KMP list and other required changed conditions
• Process clearances for new employees and conduct periodic investigations when needed
• Provide and support internal documentation for the proper routing and shipment of classified products
• Administer site visitor program including Special Security Agreement (SSA), foreign visitors, and classified visits in DISS. This includes conducting denied party screening for all visitors.
• Maintain and update combinations on safes/closed room doors used to secure classified information and maintain lists of who can have access to closed rooms
• Coordinate destruction of documents in a timely and compliant manner
• Prepare DD-254s for subcontractors in accordance with customer and DCSA guidance
• Accomplish classification requirements (classification, downgrading, and declassification review of documents) in accordance with Chapter 4 of the NISPOM, and our Security Practices and Procedures Manual (SPP)
• Establish and maintain liaison with local Technology Control Officer (TCO)
• Participate in security Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) conducted by the CFSO
• Work closely with ISSM/ISSO’s regarding AIS Systems and support all closed room activity
• Participate in the Insider Threat Working Committee, conduct investigations as needed, and do timely adverse reports in DISS if needed.
• Act as Site Security Officer (SSO) to support physical security standardsConduct and record annual audit results for site with team to show complianceKeep Site plan up-to-date and submit to CFSO annuallyWork with facilities when there is security related issues i.e. alarms, doors, badge readers, cameras issues, etc.
• Provide continuous improvement in connection with the Company’s policies, processes and procedures for FOCI mitigation and compliance with security requirements
Experience: 1-3 years’ experience working in a government-secured environment as an AFSO
Education: Bachelors Degree
Additional Qualifications:
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearanceSuccessful completion of FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities through CDSE required in first 3 months of hireThis position requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. Applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Experience with using Microsoft Office
• Experience with DISS, NISS, NBIS and SWFT is preferred

The total compensation for this position ranges from $95,227 /yr - $142,839 /yr (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, & abilities of the applicant and the alignment with the internal team & market data).
